National Associations Management Executive Advisor

International Office Region West & Central Africa

Location: Dakar/Senegal

Mission of the position:

The mission of the National Associations Management Executive Advisor is to support National Associations in empowering them through close follow up and building strong relationships with the General Secretariat (GSC), have a holistic view on the development of the NA and ensure effective support of the NAs in all key areas, especially in leadership, management, organisational development and good governance, coordinate support through regional competency centres and ensure policies, guidelines, standards and tools are aligned with the federation guidelines and are implemented.

Key performance areas and main responsibilities:
The National Associations Management Executive Advisor will work under the direction of International Director Region WCAF

Leadership & Management

  • Provide support to National Directors to be strategic leader and strong player in the change management

· Drive National Directors to lead staff and give them strong support in term of leadership

  • Lead National Directors, managing the performance and ensuring development of direct reports
  • Develop the competences of National Management Teams and support them in the good management of Ns
  • Monitor the implementation of policies, guidelines, standards and tools according to the plan
  • Be first point of contact for crisis interventions / ensure cases are reliably reported according to standards of international crisis communications guideline

Governance Development in the Associations of the Region

  • Support NAs in boards development to start good governance by establishing governance structures
  • Collaborate with NAs in developing their local strategies, supported by functional resources in the region, and monitor implementation
  • Ensure that the development of the NA is in line with federation minimum standards, policies, and guidelines
  • Provide effective information flow to Promoting & Supporting Associations (PSAs), other NAs and the GSC

Planning & Budgeting

  • Be the negotiation partner representing the federation
  • Oversee NAs planning and budgeting process and make sure all things are aligning with the federation
  • Ensure integration of the global strategic plan with national mid-term plans and integrate international functions targets into the development plans of NAs
  • Support and review NAs in the planning process

Requirements:

  • Strong experience of work in a leadership and management position in an multicultural setting
  • Minimum 7 years of work experience in the non-profit sector (preferably in the child and youth care sector) / the SOS Children´s Village Organisation
  • Fluent in both French/English
  • Ability to give advice and direction at a national/regional level
  • Experience in managing teams in a fast-paced and multicultural environment
  • Virtual management skills and knowledge of collaboration tools
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to travel (30%)
