Colombia: EU Aid Volunteers- Acción contra el Hambre

Action Against Hunger (Spain) and GVC (Italy) are International Non- Governmental Organisations that have joined their expertise in managing humanitarian actions worldwide and are now implementing the project “Strengthening the resilience and response capacity of vulnerable and disasteraffected
communities through the deployment of EU Aid Volunteers”.

The project will seek to directly strengthen resilience and response capacity of vulnerable and disaster-affected communities through the deployment of 19 trained EU Aid Volunteers in 10 countries: Guatemala, Nicaragua, Bolivia, Colombia, Peru, Georgia, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Thailand and Cambodia.

This main objective will be achieved through the deployment of EU Aid Volunteers and capacity-building activities to strengthen decision-making processes based on the Regional Pastoral Surveillance System (SO1), as well as to strength good practices and lessons learned about disaster risk management and resilience practices in vulnerable communities (SO2), and to strengthen humanitarian skills and capacities of a great range of humanitarian actors around contingency
planning processes and coordination mechanisms (SO3). These specific objectives will be complemented by activities with the purpose to ensure adequate support to the EU Aid Volunteers and the quality of the entire implementation process (SO4) and finally oriented to guarantee the best
coordination mechanisms between EU and in-country partners (SO5).

Required competences:

  • Languages: Fluent (C1) written and spoken English.
  • Skills: Excellent writing and communication skills, motivation to contribute to development and to serve others.
  • Experience: volunteering and community project management is a plus.

The candidate for EU Aid Volunteers must be a citizen of the EU or a third country national who is a long-term resident in an EU Member State, and must have a minimum age of 18 years.

Availability for the following activities:
•Training in presence in June 2018;
•Pre-deployment induction in AAH HQ, in Madrid, beginning of September 2018;
•Deployment starting from September 2018.

  • Junior EUAV in Hum,anitarian Response, Contigency Planning & Disaster Risk Reduction (Guatemala)
