This role is an exciting opportunity for a senior management professional who wants to help shape the future success of a major international NGO. The role provides vision, leadership, management and effective high-level national representation for ActionAid International (AAI) in Senegal. As the Country Director (CD), you will represent AAI in Senegal, oversee the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of ActionAid Senegal’s Country Strategy Paper (CSP), focus on the delivery of ActionAid’s operations in Senegal and ensure resources are in place to achieve performance targets and monitoring of overall performance against these targets.
The role requires broad organizational experience to develop and manage a growing team effectively as well as a deep knowledge of Senegal’s social, political and economic context to make significant improvements to policies and processes that will lead to the long-term success of ActionAid in Senegal. You will need to have excellent negotiation and communication skills, including demonstrated ability to handle sensitive diplomatic and Government level advocacy negotiations on matters affecting ActionAid Senegal’s country programme.
You must have significant experience working in a top management / executive director position in development work and poverty alleviation programmes and have a deep understanding of women’s rights, gender and development.
Your background and experience must include a proven track record in fundraising/resource mobilization and managing complex management systems (HR, finance, procurement, administration), managing a budget size of at least 3 million GBP and an understanding of feminist leadership.
As a strategic thinker, you will need to have ability to network, influence, manage a diversified team and build a high performing culture, and have proven change management experience.
Fluency in both verbal and written English and French is essential.
