Senegal: “Lifting Girls Up” Program Assistant (Internship)

Your role is an internship role. You will be the Assistant for the BIAAG Internship program “Lifting Girls Up”. You will provide efficient support for the roll out of this program in West and Central Africa, and will track commitments under the program scheme from both Plan staff and interns. You will help and maintain regular communication with interns and Plan staff focal points in countries.

You will act as the secretariat for the project management team of the internship program and will work closely with all departments to facilitate the recruitment of interns and the development of specific development modules. You will ensure an effective induction of the interns.

As assistant for this program, you will have a hand on experience in project management and develop your communication and interrelations skills in a multicultural environment.

You will report to the Regional BIAAG Campaign Coordinator.

What you will do

  1. You will support the identification, recruitment and orientation of interns

  2. Mapping the needs for interns from the different departments at country and regional levels

  3. Support development of induction packs and programs for the interns in close consultation with relevant staff

  4. Support interns to ensure a smooth induction and start of internship

  5. You will support the roll-out of the internship program and capture learning

  6. Work closely with coach and mentors to ensure compliance with the organisation commitments under the Internship program

  7. Build and maintain close relations with interns and ensure compliance with their own commitments under the Internship program

  8. Regular communication with interns in the various offices to identify challenges and provide support accordingly

  9. Ensure alignment with offered modules with capacity building needs of interns

  10. Work with the Regional learning support coordinator to track progress on training modules completion for interns and report on potential adjustments

  11. Work with the Monitoring & Evaluation Unit to establish a monitoring framework and report on progress on a regular basis

  12. Facilitate interactions among interns to foster peer-to-peer support, promote and capture cross-learning

  13. You will support the development of an outreach strategy for the Internship program

  14. Build partnerships with universities and business schools

  15. Ensure that communication towards potential candidates and public outreach consistently promote the Because I am a Girl campaign core messages

  16. Support the development of a digital and public outreach plan in collaboration with the Regional Communications team

  17. Youwill be required to carry out any other duties that are within the scope of the Because I Am A Girl campaign and as may be reasonably required by your line manager.

You are well educated with a bachelor or master’s degree and have good communication skills in both French and English.

You have good knowledge and understanding of development issues, and you are willing and able to work in a multi-cultural environment.
