The role
Reporting to the Regional Humanitarian Capacity Building (HCB) Manager, the Programme Officer role will support the implementation and development of capacity building initiatives in West & Central Africa (WCA).
There will be a clear focus on working in partnership with other stakeholders to ensure a coordinated and collaborative approach to providing learning interventions across the Save the Children movement and the wider sector.
You will be able to use your experience of delivering learning interventions in complex environments to work alongside the Programme Manager and provide continuing support and development of our existing initiatives with an important value for innovative and sustainable solutions. You will work with key stakeholders to identify training needs within the response and be part of a project team that looks to the future of learning to implement effective solutions as part of our learning portfolio.
The post holder will be expected to contribute to other humanitarian capacity building initiatives undertaken by the Save the Children.
Qualifications and experience
* Fluency in written and spoken French essential, this will be tested.
* Fluency in written and spoken English strongly desirable.
* Computer literate in Microsoft word, Excel etc.
* Excellent training and facilitation skills that come from an understanding of adult learning methodologies
* Exceptionally high standards of customer service with proven experience of delivering highly professional services to stakeholders
Essential Skills:
* Proven project coordination skill set
* Experience working in training or capacity building of people
* Having a working knowledge of the training cycle.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills, including computer literacy and confidence in using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
* Experience of organising or helping to organise events
* Experience of general administrative work in an office environment
* Experience of working in both a team and alone

* Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to work with people from a range of backgrounds and cultures

Education/Professional Skills:
* Relevant academic qualification in the field of international humanitarianism/development, social/political science, or other relevant subject area (e.g. adult learning and development).
